About MDL

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) is a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Category-I Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. MDL builds warships and submarines for the Indian Navy, making it one of India’s most prestigious defence PSUs.

Eligibility

Age (as on 1 July 2026)

• Minimum: 15 years
• Maximum: 24 years
• Relaxation: SC/ST (5 yrs) | OBC (3 yrs) | PwD (10 yrs) | Ex-servicemen (as per rules)

Education & Trade Qualification

• 10th Pass (SSC) from a recognized board, AND
• ITI Pass in the relevant trade from a Government-recognized Industrial Training Institute
• National Trade Certificate (NTC) holders preferred

Medical Standards

• Must be physically fit as per apprenticeship standards
• Candidates working around docks and ships must meet specific eyesight and physical fitness norms

2. Find the “Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026” notification
3. Apply online — upload scanned copies of:
   • 10th mark sheet and passing certificate
   • ITI certificate / National Trade Certificate
   • Caste certificate (if applicable)
   • Aadhaar card
   • Passport-size photograph
   • Signature
4. No application fee is typically charged for MDL apprentice roles

Selection Process

1. Screening of applications based on ITI marks and 10th percentage

No written test is typically conducted for ITI trade apprentices — selection is merit-based on academic performance.

• MDL does not guarantee regular employment post-apprenticeship, but many apprentices are considered for contractual and regular vacancies
• Strengthens eligibility for DRDO, BEL, BHEL, HAL, and other PSU technical exams (GATE-based or trade test)
