About the Scholarship

The Bharti Airtel Scholarship 2026-27 is a fully funded, merit-cum-means-based initiative by the Bharti Airtel Foundation — the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises (parent company of Airtel). Launched in 2024, it is implemented through the Buddy4Study platform.

The scholarship is designed to cultivate future technology leaders by supporting first-year engineering students who have secured admission to India’s top-ranked institutions but face financial barriers due to family income constraints.

Selected students are designated Bharti Scholars and receive support for the full duration of their course, subject to annual renewal criteria.

What the Scholarship Covers

Eligibility Criteria

All of the following must be true:

Academic:

• Confirmed admission/enrollment in Year 1 of an undergraduate or 5-year integrated engineering programme for the academic year 2026-27
• Course must be in one of: Electronics & Communication, Telecom, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace, or Emerging Technologies (AI, IoT, AR/VR, Machine Learning, Robotics)
• Institution must be ranked in the Top 50 NIRF Engineering Rankings 2025 (IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS and other top institutes)

Financial:

• Annual household income of parents/guardian: ≤ ₹8,00,000 from all sources

Personal:

• Indian citizen and resident of India
• Not already receiving any other scholarship or grant covering the same expenses

Preference given to:

• Girl students (primary preference)
• Students with disabilities
• Students from single-parent or orphaned backgrounds
• Transgender students

How to Apply — Step by Step

3. Register on Buddy4Study using your mobile number and email (or log in if already registered)
4. Click “Start Application”
5. Fill in all details:
   • Personal information (name, DOB, gender, contact)
   • Address information
   • Educational details (Class 12 marks, JEE score/entrance rank, college name, branch, NIRF rank confirmation)
   • Family member details, income, and occupation
6. Upload all required documents (see list below)
7. Write your Statement of Purpose (SOP) — this is a critical selection factor

9. Save your Acknowledgement Number for tracking

Required Documents

Have these ready as clear scanned copies before starting:

• Aadhaar Card (mandatory)
• Admission Letter from the NIRF Top 50 institution for academic year 2026-27
• Fee Receipt from the institution for the current year
• Class 12 Marksheet with minimum 60% marks
• JEE Mains/Advanced or other entrance exam scorecard
• Income Certificate from Tehsildar/Gazetted Officer/Income Tax Return for FY 2025-26 (showing family income ≤ ₹8 lakh)
• Bank Account Details (passbook or cancelled cheque — applicant or parent)
• Passport-size photograph (recent)
• Statement of Purpose (SOP) — typically 300-500 words
• Documents related to achievements or extracurricular activities (optional but helpful)

Selection Process

1. Application Screening — Completeness and eligibility review
2. Document Verification — Authenticity check of all uploaded documents
3. Audio/Video Interviews — Shortlisted candidates interviewed online
4. Physical House Verification — Bank/Foundation representatives verify income claims on-ground at the applicant’s residence
5. Final Selection — Based on all stages above

Renewal Conditions

To receive the scholarship in Year 2, 3, 4, and 5:

• Continue in the same course at the same institution
• Maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0 (or equivalent)
• Submit annual renewal documentation

Important Notes

• Application is 100% free. No fee at any stage. Report any request for payment to Buddy4Study.
• The scholarship covers tuition and hostel; all refundable/sundry expenses (library fee, internet, laundry, security deposits) must be borne by the scholar.
• The laptop provided is the scholar’s responsibility — no replacement if damaged or lost.
• Any false information in the application results in immediate disqualification and recovery of all scholarship amounts disbursed.
• Scholars are encouraged (not mandated) to help educate one other student after becoming financially independent.
