About the IET India Scholarship Award 2026

The IET India Scholarship Award 2026 is one of India’s most prestigious scholarship competitions for undergraduate engineering students, now in its 10th edition. Organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) — a globally recognised professional body for engineers headquartered in the UK — the award identifies and supports the next generation of engineering leaders through a rigorous multi-stage selection process.

As its 10th edition, this special edition of the program features a double-prize edition, where the winners receive double the prize money, offering a total scholarship fund of INR 20,00,000.

In the 9th edition, the program received over 44,000 applications — a scale that reflects just how competitive and credible this award has become.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to all full-time 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, and 4th year undergraduate engineering students. Students must be enrolled in an institution approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) or UGC (University Grants Commission). All engineering branches and specialisations are eligible. There is absolutely no branch bar. Part-time students are not eligible — only full-time regular programme students may apply. Applicants must have cleared all their credit courses in a single attempt — no backlogs or repeat attempts. Minimum required academic score: 60% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale.

Additional notes:

  • No age limit
  • IET membership is not required to apply (but mention it if you have it)
  • Students admitted through lateral entry into 2nd year B.Tech are also eligible
  • First-year freshers may apply using Class 12 marks

Selection Process — 4 Stages

Stage 1 — Online Application Submit your application at scholarships.theietevents.com. Provide academics, co-curricular activities, professional engagements, and outreach efforts. No documents required at this stage — only fill in details accurately.

Stage 2 — All-India Online Test The online test will consist of a mix of mathematics, physics, and engineering-specific problems. Shortlisted candidates are invited to pick a test slot between 8-10 July 2026.

Stage 3 — Regional Rounds (5 Cities) The selection process will be conducted across five regional centres: Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Regional winners advance to the national finals.

Stage 4 — National Finals (Bangalore) The 5 regional winners present their engineering solutions to a national jury. Judged on presentation, innovation, and overall growth across all rounds. May include a Group Discussion on the day.

Application Process

  1. Visit the official portal: scholarships.theietevents.com
  2. Click “Apply Now” on the homepage (top right)
  3. Register with your email — use the same email throughout the process
  4. Set your password as exactly 8 characters with a special character at the end
  5. Fill in academic details, co-curricular activities, and professional engagements
  6. Submit — no documents needed at this stage
  7. Watch your registered email for shortlisting notification

Important: Do not reset your password after registration. The portal is strict about email and password consistency. Use a personal Gmail — not a college email that may expire.

What to Prepare

Your application is evaluated on:

  • Academic performance (CGPA/percentage, rank in class)
  • Co-curricular activities (technical clubs, hackathons, paper presentations, sports)
  • Professional activities (internships, research projects, publications, patents)
  • IET membership or engagement (optional advantage)
  • Outreach and community service (teaching, volunteering, social initiatives)

Strong applications have at least 2-3 achievements in each category. A 9.0 CGPA alone without activities will not take you to the regional round.

Why Apply

  • ₹6 lakh for the national winner — among the highest non-exam engineering scholarships in India
  • Global IET membership opens access to international engineering network
  • Regional finalist status is a strong differentiator on your resume and LinkedIn
  • No application fee whatsoever
  • Open to all branches — not just CS/IT
