About INSPIRE

INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) is DST’s flagship scholarship program to attract talent into science research. It offers financial support at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

Fellowship Components

  • Monthly fellowship: ₹31,000 during PhD tenure
  • Annual contingency/research grant: ₹20,000
  • Duration: 5 years maximum

Eligibility

  • Pursuing integrated M.Sc./Ph.D. or Ph.D. program
  • Must be in top 1% of Class XII board exam OR have secured rank in JEE/NEET/GATE/NET
  • Must be enrolled in natural sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Earth Sciences)

Selection Process

Applications are screened by DST. Final selection through interviews conducted at IISc or IITs.
